Wholesale orders into Shopify for a multichannel home-goods brand

A UK home-goods brand sells through its own Shopify store, several marketplaces and wholesale buyers, and uses Shopify as the order book for all of them. In Make, wholesale purchase orders became Shopify orders with their documents filed. Every scenario in the account is now switched off.

The organisation

The brand sells home goods in the UK through its own Shopify store, through marketplaces and through wholesale programmes, with sister brands alongside. Shopify is the order book for all of it, and Xero holds the accounts.

That meant every channel's orders had to reach Shopify, and every fulfilled order had to be invoiced in Xero, channel by channel. The account held 78 scenarios for that work, from order imports and per-channel invoicing to shipping notices, stock and cost calculations.

This case study describes the one flow that was read in enough detail to write up: wholesale purchase orders into Shopify. None of the account's scenarios has run within Make's retention window.

The outcome

  • One flow written up, a single scenario of about 65 modules with about twenty retry handlers.

  • No runs to report: every scenario is switched off. The data stores still record 155 purchase-order-to-Shopify-order mappings and 47 shipping-notice records.

Where it stops

This is a build, not a running system: every scenario is switched off and there are no figures for volume or errors. The per-channel order imports, invoicing in Xero, shipping and stock scenarios were not read in enough detail to describe and are not written up.
